We have survived the deadly Hurricane Dorian. We were lucky in NOT receiving any damages done by Hurricane Dorian. The only thing that happened was a few shingles flew away but that is getting fixed. Unfortunately some of us here on the Outer Banks have lost everything. People here on the Outer Banks, Hatteras Island, Ocracoke Island, and the Bahamas lost everything from this storm. Please keep these people in your thoughts and in your hearts. There is a bunch of places to where you can donate money or your time to help these people out. Every little bit helps.

Re-entry for all visitors will be allowed today Sunday, September 8 at 4 pm. Please note that some streets and neighborhoods are marked for no entry. There are still places that have no power. Power poles and trees are still down in some areas. So please drive with caution if you are a visitor of the Outer Banks. Please be respectfully to the locals, we have been threw a lot and some of us have been without power since Thursday. We do welcome all visitors with open arms. The red flags are still flying due to high Rip currents. These red flags mean NO SWIMMING. The town will let us know when it is safe to enter the water.

We want to thank all the workers that have worked hard to get us back up and running again. Thank you to Dominion Power, Spectrum, FEMA, Dare County Emergency Team, all volunteer’s that came from all over, and to the first responders team, and the many other’s we have helped us threw this devastating event.

Re-Entry after Hurricane Dorian

Vacationers & Visitors to Dare County should note that you are considered Priority 4 by Dare County when the County re-opens its borders.  Re-entry is handled in stages – not all at once.  Priority 1 is strictly Essential Personnel; Priority 2 is for Permanent Residents; Priority 3 is for Non-Resident property Owners; and Priority 4 is for all Visitors.  The County is serious about making sure that all visitors are safe and that essential services are up and running before they let everyone back in.  This is for your own safety.  Thank you.  To get updates from Dare County, go to:  https://www.darenc.com/departments/emergency-management/emergency-alerts.

At this time we regret to inform you that Dare County Emergency Management has imposed an Evacuation Order effective Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 12 noon. To view the Evacuation Order, please read below:

3:00 p.m.

The Dare County Control Group met Monday afternoon to receive a briefing from the National Weather Service and to discuss actions necessary to ensure public safety across Dare County. With confidence increasing that Dare County will see significant, life threatening impacts from Hurricane Dorian later this week, a state of emergency has been issued for all areas of Dare County including the towns of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Manteo and all unincorporated areas including Hatteras Island, Roanoke Island and the Dare mainland.

A mandatory evacuation has been issued for all Dare County visitors beginning Tuesday, September 3 at 12:00 p.m. A mandatory evacuation order for all Dare County residents becomes effective at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4.

Now is the time to make final preparations, secure property and evacuate. Visitors should evacuate with all personal belongings and follow instructions from their property management company.

The state of emergency includes restrictions on ocean swimming due to dangerous surf conditions and strong rip currents along the beaches. Everyone must stay out of the water as it is unsafe for even the most experienced swimmers.

Those evacuating to areas north of Dare County are encouraged to travel westbound on Highway 64 to Interstate 95. Evacuating through the rural areas to the west of Dare County will help avoid traffic backups and congestion that may prolong evacuation by traveling northbound through the Hampton Roads portion of Virginia.

Please note that Dare County’s new online reentry permitting system is now in effect and reentry permits from previous years are no longer valid. Permanent residents may still use a valid driver’s license with a Dare County address for reentry. To get to the beach there is a boardwalk that will take you from the back porch to the sand. There are no dunes to climb over.

Sea Gull is ocean front, has a saltwater pool, Foosball table, screened in porch facing ocean, wifi, cable, fenced pet area, charcoal grill, boardwalk that goes from the back of the house to the beach. So this way there are no dunes but there is stairs for this house on the boardwalk. Sea Gull will sleep up to 20 people and this house has the biggest area for parking. Pepper’s Cottage is one of our most beloved cottages out of them all. This cottage is made for couples that need to just relax, unwind, and to have fun. Pepper’s is unique in every way. When it was first built it was rented by a Catholic Cardinal and before he left he blessed it!
